Privacy policy

Last updated October 15, 2026

This policy explains what information TRAVELING SCHOLARS OF AMERICA Inc. (“Traveling Scholars of America”, “we”, “us”) receives through scholarsofamerica.org, how we use it, and the choices you have.

What this website collects

This website has no accounts, no sign-up forms of its own and no advertising. It does not set its own cookies or run analytics. Like most websites, our hosting provider automatically records basic technical information when you visit, such as your IP address, browser type and the pages requested, to deliver the site and keep it secure.

Information you choose to send us

  • Booking requests. When you request a scholar, you fill in a Google Form. It may ask for your name, masjid, city, contact details and preferred dates. Google processes the form on our behalf.
  • WhatsApp messages. If you message us on WhatsApp, we receive your phone number, your name as shown in WhatsApp and what you write. WhatsApp handles the message under its own terms.
  • Email. If you email info@scholarsofamerica.org, we receive your address and your message.

We use this information only to answer you, arrange visits, and keep a record of visits and correspondence.

Donations

Donations are processed by Givebutter. A Givebutter script loads on this website so the donation button can work, and Givebutter may set its own cookies. When you donate, Givebutter collects your name, email and payment details, and passes us the donor information we need to send receipts and keep proper records. We never see or store your full card details.

How we use and share information

We use the information described above to run Traveling Scholars of America: answering enquiries, scheduling scholars, processing and acknowledging donations, and meeting our legal and tax obligations as a 501(c)(3) nonprofit. We do not sell or rent personal information. We share it only with the service providers named in this policy, with the scholars and masajid involved in a visit you request, or when the law requires it.

Services we rely on

These providers handle information under their own privacy policies: Vercel (website hosting), Google (booking forms), Meta’s WhatsApp (messaging) and Givebutter (donations).

How long we keep information

We keep booking and visit records for as long as they are useful for arranging future visits, and donation records for as long as tax and accounting rules require. You can ask us to delete your information at any time, unless we must keep it by law.

Your choices

You can ask to see, correct or delete the personal information we hold about you by emailing info@scholarsofamerica.org. You can also block or clear cookies in your browser settings; the donation button may not work if Givebutter’s cookies are blocked.

Children

This website is meant for masjid administrators, donors and the general public. We do not knowingly collect personal information from children under 13.

Changes to this policy

We may update this policy as the website or our services change. The date at the top shows the latest version.
